This page is for all the many people who loved Grania and who were fortunate enough to be her loved ones and friends. Most especially for Josh, Arthur and George and their family.
Grania's generosity was legendary - generous with her time, her large heart, her boundless energy, her wit and wisdom, infinite kindness and above all her raucous laugh and her ability to create laughter. And she had an amazing connection to children - we will all have memories of parties and picnics where Grania was the Pied Piper entertaining the kids and leading them into fun and mischief and merriment. And they adored and loved her back. So - we want to say Thank You for the gifts you gave us Grania and what better way than to give support to an organisation whose work is all about supporting children and families who have lost their parent.
Why Winston's Wish is needed and what they do
Every day in the UK 100 children lose a mum or dad. The effect on a young life can be devastating. Many will struggle to understand what’s happened and find it hard to express what they feel.
What we do at Winston’s Wish
At Winston’s Wish we listen and we talk. We can’t bring back a parent, but we can help children understand their emotions and provide a safe place for them to grieve. Over time we help them make sense of what’s happened and learn to live with their loss.
This support is available through a variety of ways: via our National Helpline, Interactive support on our website, Drop-In services, specialist one-to-one support, group support, and through our publications and training for professionals.
To give an idea of how donations at a funeral can make an impact when help is needed most here are some examples:
£10 – could pay for a special memory box for a child attending one of our support groups – helping them talk about the person who has died and to keep their memory alive.
£25 – could fund the cost of one Helpline call and a supporting publication, both offering advice and guidance when someone really needs it.
£50 – could help pay for a face-to-face session for a child and their family with 2 of our specialist practitioners – providing support and showing them tools on how to deal with their loss.
Cannot believe that besides Grania is no longer dancing on this Earth, and can only imagine the grief that her family and especially her boys must be going through. Rest In Peace, glorious gorgeous Grania.
